My dad is one of a kind for sure. I think the best thing about him is his positive attitude, it's contagious when you're around him, even as an adult it's hard to imagine that there's anything he couldn't do when he really puts his mind to it. He looks at life as a big party, or an adventure, or a fun trip and he always enjoys the little things, like the sunset or the sand or just sitting. It's energizing to be around him instead of draining. I want to be more like that. Happy birthday Papi, I love you.

I could not have said it better myself. The moment that it really hit me - how great papi's attitude is - was when he lived by la chapel, and there was 1 crappy plum tree in his yard. He strung up a hammock and made a thing that picks the plums for you while you lay in the hammock. I think it was made out of an old broom and a red plastic cup! It doesn't matter where he is, or what he has, he will make it fun, beautiful and inviting.
