The Red Tent The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was really good. It is a fictional story based on the women in the family of Jacob, son of Isaac (who was almost sacrificed by his father Abraham) in the Bible. I really enjoyed being taken back to the bible times, to me it was an intriguing trip into the past. The beliefs and way of life for women back then are so different and strange in contrast with life today. The characters were really brought to life for me. If the old testament was written like this I think I would pick up my bible more often!

They love me, they really love me!

Haha, rememer a few months back when I went to that American Idol audition? Well a friend was looking at the AI gallery and found some pictures of me. To see them click here! Then find photo numbers 6, 7, 277 & 300. I tried to copy and post them for your convenience without success so you'll just have to go there to see for yourself.

See you in a couple years...

I'm so excited for Eric's adventures in Mendoza, Argentina! It was hard for his family to say goodbye, but I think he's excited for the experience before him. I'm pretty jealous, I want to go!

Eric's Last Supper (BBQ)

Hosted by the lovely Orcutt cousins. Good food, good company, good fun!

Ivan and Cohen in matching shorts!

And an interesting game of soccer...

Lehman Caves in Nevada

So we went camping last weekend (first camping of the year!) and then we took a tour of the Lehman cave in Nevada.

The cave was really cool, not at all what I expected.

Also, while we were camping there were beautiful cacti in bloom all over and these crazy caterpillar nests in all the bushes. It was a nice little nature break.

Win a handmade gift from me!!

I saw this on someone's blog and thought it looked so fun, so I'm giving it a try.

This blog post is like chain mail, but it's nice, and you only have to take part if you want to.. so here goes...

Here are the rules:
The first three people to comment on this post will get a homemade surprise by me! I guarantee you will love it (I'm not so sure I can guarantee this - but I'll try my best), or at least that you will tell me you love it regardless.

It'll be done this year at some point (remember patience is a virtue, and if it takes me a long time it's probably because I want to get it just right for you)

It doesn't matter where you live because if it's somewhere I can't ship to easily then I'll make you a digital gift. You'll have to provide me with an address or at least and email address for delivery of your special gift. The homemade gift could be anything (the air of mystery is what makes this thing exciting!) I might sew it or draw it or bake it or write it....

Last but not least, you must continue this little game by reposting the offer of a secret homemade gift to the first 3 people who comment on your blog (it's okay if you don't have a blog or if you want to give your gifts in private as long as you somehow make an effort to "pass it on".) Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it (so those who weren’t fast enough to win can be horribly jealous).

Yes even you could be a winner (;

Happy Bday Randy!!!

You always have a soft spot for the oldest brother don't you? Maybe because they're always protective and taking good care of their siblings. I've always thought of Randy as the peace maker of the family, and I still think of him as a very sweet natured guy in spite of the fact that he has started to tease me a lot more over the past couple years (don't worry I deserve it.) Happy Birthday Randy, I love you!

(I thought this was a cute picture of my dad with his oldest son and his youngest son)

Happy Birthday Pa!

I seriously have the best in-laws a girl could ask for. Ivan's dad is one of the most kindhearted persons I have ever met and I really feel lucky to know such a great guy. I hope it is a good one Robert, happy birthday!

Things that are growing!

Our winter plants (snap peas, spinach, lettuce, green onions) are
growing strong, the summer
transplants are still hiding away
in their tent for a bit

We actually buy the green onions from the grocery store and after we eat the shoots we bury the bulb and it re-grows!!

These firey tulips were a nice surprise!

This is the hammock where I chill and watch my plants grow, hah

and of course my big 'ol belly d=
